(by descent from Thomas [Arundell], 1st Baron Arundell of Wardour, who was created a Count of the Holy Roman Empire by Emperor Rudolph II on 14 Dec 1595.  The text of the imperial decree makes it plain that the honour is "descendible to all and each of the grantee's children, heir, posterity, and descendants of either sex, born or to be born, for ever")
