In his will dated 7 Apr 1759 the Earl states "Whereas before my intermarriage with my said dear wife Juliana Countess of Anglesey I had several natural children by different women during the time of my living separate from my first wife Mrs Ann Phrust afterwards Countess of Anglesey that is to say by Mrs Ann Simpson Dorothea Annesley my eldest daughter Caroline Annesley my second daughter & Elizabeth Annesley my third daughter & by Mrs Ann Saulkeld of London dec'd I had one natural son called Richard Annesley & by Mary Glover late of Newport Pannell Gt. Britain I had one natural daughter Ann Annesley otherwise Glover...". Following the Earl's death in 1761 Hon Arthur Annesley, his only son by Juliana Donovan, was held by the Irish authorities to have succeeded to the Irish titles of Viscount Valentia, Baron Mountnorris and Baron Altham, and took his seat in the Irish House of Lords on 5 Dec 1765 and on 7 Nov 1771 as such. However his petition for a writ of summons to the Parliament of Great Britain in right of the Earldom of Anglesey was rejected, the British House of Lords deciding in 22 Apr 1771 that the certificate produced in evidence of the 1741 marriage was a forgery and therefore "the claimant had no right to the titles, honours and dignities claimed by his petition". According to this decision, the English titles of Earl of Anglesey and Baron Annesley had become extinct on 14 Feb 1761. The validity of the 1741 marriage was again confirmed by the Irish House of Lords on 1 Jun 1772.
