The Barony of Chandos was held by the 1st Earl of Carnarvon from 19 Oct 1714, when the 9th Baron Chandos was created Viscount Wilton and Earl of Carnarvon, and by the Dukes of Chandos from 29 Apr 1719, when the 1st Earl of Carnarvon was created Marquess of Carnarvon and Duke of Chandos, until 29 Sep 1789, when on the death of the 3rd Duke of Chandos all his titles became extinct.
