The Barony of Clinton was held by the Earls of Lincoln from 4 May 1572 until 25 Nov 1692 when, on the death of Edward [Clinton], 5th Earl of Lincoln and 13th Baron Clinton, the barony fell into abeyance between the issue of his three aunts:  Lady Catherine Booth, Lady Delamere;  Lady Arabella Rolle;  and Lady Margaret Boscawen.  On 16 Mar 1721 the barony was called out of abeyance after 129 years in favour of
