The Barony of Cornwallis was held by the Earls Cornwallis from 10 Jun 1753 until 21 May 1852, when on the death of James [Cornwallis later Mann], 5th Earl Cornwallis, 9th Baron Cornwallis, etc., all his titles became extinct. The 2nd Earl Cornwallis was created Marquess Cornwallis on 8 Oct 1792, but the marquessate became extinct on the death of his son in 1823.
