Knight of the Bath 9 Sep 1553 at the Coronation of Queen Mary;  Member of Parliament for Arundel 1555, and for Lichfield 1559 and 1562-63;  on his death he left an only dau., Elizabeth, aged 4 months, who according to modern Peerage law suc. her father as Baroness Paget in her own right, but not to the family estates, which had been entailed on heirs male - she died an infant on 29 Jun 1570;  The Complete Peerage enumerates her as a holder of the title, but this is not followed by either Burke's or Debrett's - for once we have followed the latter rather than the former!

The Barony of Paget was held by the Earls of Uxbridge (1st creation) from 19 Oct 1714 until 16 Nov 1769, when on the death unmarried of Henry [Paget], 2nd Earl of Uxbridge, 8th Baron Paget, etc., the Earldom of Uxbridge and the Barony of Burton became extinct, and the Barony of Paget, being a barony in fee, passed to the next heir general of the grantee:
