The Barony of Pelham was held by the 1st Earl of Clare (later 1st Duke of Newcastle-under-Lyne) until his death on 17 Nov 1768 when all his titles became extinct except for the Dukedom of Newcastle-under-Lyne and the 1762 Barony of Pelham.
