The Marquessate of Queensberry was held by the Dukes of Queensberry from 3 Feb 1683/84 until 23 Dec 1810, when on the death of William [Douglas], 4th Duke of Queensberry, 5th Marquess of Queensberry, etc., the title was inherited by his kinsman Sir Charles Douglas of Kelhead, 5th Bt.
