Perth 1584; had a charter of the lands of the Mains of Invermey 1607/8; Justice of the Peace for Fife and Kinross 1610; King James VI granted him, his heirs male and assigns whatsoever, the monastery of Saint Colme's Inch, with the lands belonging thereto in Fifeshire and elsewhere, which were erected into a temporal lordship, and created him Lord Saint Colme 7 Mar 1610/1
