THE ROLL OF THE PEERAGE
The Roll of the Peerage contains brief details of the current holders of British Peerages.
More comprehensive details of these holders and the previous holders of such peerages (as well
as similar information about all extinct peerages) can be found in Cracroft's Peerage.
We are currently developing an online version of Cracroft's Peerage. A beta version
of this can be accessed from the subscribers' area.
Brief details of Barons/Lords and Baronesses/Ladies in their own right will be added shortly.
Hereditary Peers
- Royal Dukes 6 royal dukedoms: all held by royal dukes (with the Prince of Wales holding 2 of them)
- Dukes 29 non-royal dukedoms: all held by dukes (with 3 dukes each holding 2 dukedoms and 1 duke holding 3)
- Marquesses 55 marquessates: 34 held by marquesses and 21 held by dukes
- Earls 313 earldoms: 208 held by earls (with 17 earls holding 2 earldoms each) and 105 held by higher titles
- Countesses in their own right 4 earldoms held by countesses
- Viscounts 338 viscountcies: 115 held by viscounts (with 2 viscounts holding 2 viscountcies each) and 223 held by higher titles
