Current English Viscountcies

 

Andover, Viscount (E, 1621/22) - the viscountcy has been held by the Earls of Berkshire since 1626, when the 1st Viscount Andover was created Earl of Berkshire, and by the Earls of Suffolk since 1715, when the 4th Earl of Berkshire inherited the more senior Earldom of Suffolk

 

Bury, Viscount (E, 1696/97) - the viscountcy has been held by the Earls of Albemarle since 1697, when the 1st Earl of Albemarle was created Baron Ashford, Viscount Bury and Earl of Albemarle

 

Cranborne, Viscount (E, 1604) - the viscountcy has been held by the Earls of Salisbury since 1605, when the 1st Viscount Cranborne was created Earl of Salisbury, and by the Marquesses of Salisbury since 1789, when the 7th Earl of Salisbury was created Marquess of Salisbury

 

Deerhurst, Viscount (E, 1697) - the viscountcy has been held by the Earls of Coventry since 1697, when the 5th Baron Coventry was created Viscount Deerhurst and Earl of Coventry

 

Feilding, Viscount (E, 1620) - the viscountcy has been held by the Earls of Denbigh since 1622, when the 1st Viscount Feilding was created Earl of Denbigh

 

Hereford, Viscount (E, 1550)

Hinchinbroke, Viscount (E, 1660) - the viscountcy has been held by the Earls of Sandwich since 1660, when the 1st Earl of Sandwich was created Baron Montagu of St Neots, Viscount Hinchinbroke and Earl of Sandwich

Howard of Morpeth, Viscount (E, 1661) - the viscountcy has held by the Earls of Carlisle since 1661, when the 1st Earl of Carlisle was created Baron Dacre of Gillesland, Viscount Howard of Morpeth and Earl of Carlisle

 

Ipswich, Viscount (E, 1672) - the viscountcy was held by the 1st Earl of Euston from 1672, when he was created Baron Sudbury, Viscount Ipswich and Earl of Euston, and has been held by the Dukes of Grafton since 1675, when the 1st Earl of Euston was created Duke of Grafton

 

Lumley, Viscount (E, 1689) - the viscountcy has been held by the Earls of Scarbrough since 1690, when the 1st Viscount Lumley was created Earl of Scarbrough [NB the 1st Viscount Lumley in the Peerage of England was also 2nd Viscount Lumley in the Peerage of Ireland]

 

Maidstone, Viscount (E, 1623) - the viscountcy has been held by the Earls of Winchilsea since 1628, when the 1st Viscountess Maidstone, was created Countess of Winchilsea

Malden, Viscount (E, 1661) - the viscountcy has been held by the Earls of Essex since 1661, when the 2nd Baron Capell was created Viscount Malden and Earl of Essex

Malpas, Viscount (E, 1706) - the viscountcy has been held by the Earls of Cholmondeley since 1706, when the 2nd Viscount Cholmondeley was created Viscount Malpas and Earl of Cholmondeley, and by the Marquesses of Cholmondeley since 1815, when the 4th Earl of Cholmondeley was created Marquess of Cholmondeley

Mandeville, Viscount (E, 1620) - the viscountcy has been held by the Earls of Manchester since 1626, when the 1st Viscount Mandeville was created Earl of Manchester, and by the Dukes of Manchester since 1719, when the 4th Earl of Manchester was created Duke of Manchester

 

Townshend, Viscount (E, 1682) - the viscountcy has been held by the Marquesses Townshend since 1787, when the 4th Viscount Townshend was created Marquess Townshend

 

Villiers, Viscount (E, 1690/1) - the viscountcy has been held by the Earls of Jersey since 1697, when the 1st Viscount Villiers was created Earl of Jersey

 

Weymouth, Viscount (E, 1682) - the viscountcy has been held by the Marquesses of Bath since 1789, when the 3rd Viscount Weymouth was created Marquess of Bath

Woodstock, Viscount (E, 1689) - the viscountcy was held by the Earls of Portland from 1689, when the 1st Earl of Portland was created Baron Cirencester, Viscount Weymouth and Earl of Portland, until 1715, when the 2nd Earl of Portland was created Marquess of Titchfield and Duke of Portland, and by the Earls of Portland since 1990, when the Dukedom of Portland became extinct and the Earldom of Portland was inherited by a distant cousin descended from the 1st Earl of Portland
