*Editor's Note: the information of the marriage and descendants of Hon Augustus Yelverton (1802-64) is taken from L G Pine's "The New Extinct Peerage 1884-1971". Mr Pine was obviously not totally convinced of the accuracy of this information. It is interesting that Vicary Gibbs, one of the editors of "The Complete Peerage", writing about 1910 refers to William Henry Morgan Yelverton (1840-1909) as being the "...only male descendant, besides the 6th Viscount, of the grantee...". If he is correct, then the Yelvertons of New Zealand do NOT descend from Hon Augustus Yelverton and it would seem that the Viscountcy of Avonmore is extinct rather than merely dormant. Just to add confusion, Burke's Peerage has not included the Viscountcy of Avonmore in recent editions whereas Debrett's Peerage show the title as being dormant with the comment "This peerage has been dormant since the death of the 6th Viscount in 1910. The senior male descendent in the male line of Hon Augustus Yelverton, 3rd son of the 2nd Viscount, is presumably heir to the title."
