created
20 Feb 1638 Lord Deskford and Earl of Findlater
The Lordship of Ogilvy of Deskford was held by the Earls of Findlater from 20 Feb 1638 until 5 Oct 1811, when on the death of James [Ogilvy], 7th Earl of Findlater, 8th Lord Ogilvy of Deskford, etc., the Lordship of Ogilvy of Deskford became dormant along with the Earldom of Findlater. Following the regrant of the Earldom of Findlater in 1641 the heirs male of Patrick [Ogilvy], 2nd Earl of Findlater, if any, would be entitled to the Earldom of Findlater and the Lordship of Ogilvy of Deskford. These were claimed in 1812 by Sir William Ogilvy of Boyne, Bt., but no proceedings were taken in respect of his claim.
