On the death of the 2nd Earl of Uxbridge the Earldom of Uxbridge and Barony of Burton became extinct but the Barony of Paget, being a barony in fee, passed to the next heir general of the grantee, namely Sir Henry Bayly later Paget, 3rd Bt., who became 9th Baron Paget and was created Earl of Uxbridge in 1784.
