The Barony of Abergavenny was held by the Earls of Abergavenny (created Marquesses of Abergavenny on 14 Jan 1876) from 17 May 1784 until 10 Jan 1938, when on the death of Henry Gilbert Ralph [Nevill], 3rd Marquess of Abergavenny, 23rd or 16th or 8th Baron Abergavenny, etc., the Barony of Abergavenny fell into abeyance between his two daughters.
