On the death of the 1st Earl Rivers the Barony of Darcy of Chiche (cr. 1551) became extinct, but the Viscountcy of Colchester and the Earldom of Rivers, as well as the Barony of Darcy of Chiche (cr. in reversion 1613), passed to his grandson.
