Alfred Joseph [Stourton], 20th Baron Stourton later 23rd/7th Baron Mowbray and 24th/7th Baron Segrave, DL

note

took his seat in the House of Lords as Baron Stourton 15 Jul 1873; on 3 Jan 1878 the abeyances of the Baronies of Mowbray and Segrave were terminated in his favour and he took his seat as Baron Mowbray 17 Jan 1878

From 3 Jan 1878 the Lords Stourton held all three baronies and each has styled himself "Lord Mowbray, Segrave and Stourton" on the assumption that Mowbray was the senior barony. However, as has been shown (see Mowbray, Baron (E, 1283 or 1640) it is more likely that the Barony of Mowbray called out of abeyance in 1878 was the one created in error by writ of summons in 1640 and that the Barony of Segrave still continues to be in abeyance.

The scheme of 16 quarterings or seize quartiers for Alfred Joseph, 20th Baron Stourton, can be seen here.
