Waterford 1661-65/6;  suc. his father as 6th Baron Le Power and Coroghmore betw. 4 Dec 1665 and 19 Feb 1665/6;  Privy Councillor [I] 1667-79;  Col of the "Orange" Regiment of Foot 1670;  received a grant of the territory in co. Waterford known as the Decies 1673;  for alleged complicity in the Popish Plot of 1679 he was imprisoned in Dublin Castle and later in the Gatehouse at Westminster, from where he was released on bail of £30,000;  Privy Councillor [I] 1686 under King James ; Lord Lieutenant of co. Waterford;  in receipt of a Government pension of £300 1687/8;  Col of a new Regiment of Foot 1688;  attended King James's Parliament in Dublin 1689 ; fought with his regiment at the Battle of the Boyne 1689, when he was made a prisoner at the surrender of Cork to Marlborough  and taken to the Tower of London;  outlawed 1691 after his death, but the outlawry was reversed on a writ of error brought by his son the next year
