On the death of the 7th Earl Cowper the Princedom of the Holy Roman Empire, the Earldom and Barony of Cowper and the Viscountcy of Fordwich became extinct, the Barony of Butler of Moore Park fell into abeyance among his sisters and their heirs, and the Lordship of Dingwall and the Barony of Lucas of Crudwell devolved on his nephew as the heir general of the original grantees of those titles.
