On the death of the 7th Viscount Bulkeley both the Viscountcy and the Barony of Bulkeley became extinct. Under his will the Bulkeley estates passed in 1826 to Sir Richard Bulkeley Williams later Williams-Bulkeley, 10th Bt., the son of his uterine brother, Sir Robert Williams, 9th Bt. Lady Bulkeley left the Warren family estates to Frances Maria Warren, only dau. and hrss. of Admiral Rt Hon Sir John Borlase Warren, 1st Bt. GCB, of Little Marlow, co. Buckingham, believing, incorrectly, that Frances was a descendant of the old family of Warren of Poynton. Her family was, in fact, originally called Waring.
