Tipperary 1613-14; on the death of his uncle 1614 he succeeded to the Earldoms but the bulk of the family estates were retained by his cousin Lady Elizabeth Preston following an award of the estates by King James I 1618; the Earl refused to agree to this arrangement and was imprisoned in the Fleet Prison from 1619 to 1624/5
